Using Google Slides to View Multiple Slides as One Sheet

After creating the Google Slides Index Cards template I became frustrated! It seemed rather cumbersome to scroll down and read each slide to determine a logical order. What I was looking for was the easiest way a student could read the cards on one screen. I knew it would be easier for the students to confirm the index research cards were in a logical order if it was on one sheet. When out of the blue it dawned on me to use the print preview. This allows the user to view the slides several times up on one page.

THIS IS HOW TO USE THE PRINT PREVIEW:

  • Go to file
  • Scroll down to print settings and preview
  • When 1 slide without notes is clicked a dropdown list will open
  • This will give you several different choices for viewing the slides as a handout
  • Click the handout with the slides per page you prefer to view

Creating Games Using Google Drawing

Google APPS for Education (GAFE) offers several APPS which can be used to create interactive activities.  One of the APPS I like is Google Drawing.  It is easy to create and once you have a finished activity the pieces can be moved! This is a valuable Ed Tech tool for the teacher and student alike.

  • Teacher creates interactive lesson plans
  • Students interact with lesson plan
  • Student creates an interactive activity
  • Student works in pairs using the activity

This is the steps I use to create a Game using Google Drawing:

  • Open Google Drawing in My Drive

Open Google Drawing

  • Give the drawing a name
  • Select a page size

Select Page Size

  • Create the background
  • Make the game pieces

Technology Can Support All Learners!

Over the years I’ve heard this question asked, “Why do you think technology is good for supporting the students” Here is my answer:

  • Technology can differentiate instruction
  • Supports the low reader
  • Helps student to maintain focus
  • Provides action for the kinesthetic learner
  • Supports the sharing of ideas
  • Let’s not forget the visual, audio, video, interactive and etc… supports

Keeping this in mind I hope to integrate technology in new and exciting ways to support the students. Here is a sneak peek of a project I’m working on.

As part of my position I maintain supplemental notes for supporting students of exceptionalities. This year I’m planning on sharing a virtual notebook with the students. I hope this provides study information to support all the different learning styles.

Now do you understand why technology can support the students?
