Just love, love, love the new “Schedule Feature’ Gmail now offers! Why is scheduling emails a beautiful feature to have? It allows the user to compose and schedule an email for automated later delivery on a later date. Much easier than saving in drafts and manually sending the email on a specific date. I like writing messages ahead of time and going back to make edits. Scheduling emails make this a one step process. Imagine no need to stress over forgetting to send an email ever again!

Steps for Scheduling Gmail

  • Open Gmail
  • Click Compose
    • Add Contact
    • Type Subject
  • Type Email
  • Click Down Arrow on Right Side of Send Button
  • Select Schedule Send
  • Choose One of the Recommended Dates
    • or Select a Custom Date & Time
  • Select Schedule Send
  • Choose One of the Recommended Dates
    • or Select a Custom Date & Time

NOTE: Once a date and time is selected a message pop-ups for confirmation

If you want to edit or view the Scheduled Message click the schedule label. You will find a listing of schedule emails under the schedule label.

Lesser Known Tools Residing in GMAIL…

If you ask a teacher or student which G Suite for Edu tool they use most often I bet the response would be “GMAIL”.  They probably feel pretty confident about their mastery of composing and sending an Email. Some might even say they are ninja’s or Guru’s when it comes to using GMAIL. But are they really more than proficient users? Most people only really use the very basics of sending and receiving email.

I created the following GMAIL Learning Square to support colleagues, friends and students with learning about some of the hidden treasures residing within GMAIL.

Google Drive & Gmail Sign-Out First Learned Rule

Signout of G-Account.gif

Today I was amazed while watching a middle school student sign-out of their Gmail account. Instead of clicking on the account sign-out the student clicked the red “X” in the upper left Corner of the Chrome Browser. This is not the safest way to sign out of an account. It could potentially leave the user’s account signed on. Which means the next student using the computer may have access to the prior person’s account.

Ironically today in the Google Drive Help Forum I assisted a high school student who was upset due to files and folder deleted from their account. It is really important to teach students from a young age how to sign-out of their Google Account before closing the Chrome or Internet Browser. Nurturing “Good Digital Citizenship” skills start with teaching students how to properly use digital devices.

However Google APPS for Education (GAfE) is transforming my life and due to filter features I’m maximizing upon the time spent with organizing my inbox. Imagine once you read your E-mail it automatically files itself into folders for easy retrieval at a later date. I think this is a very cool feature which many of us tend to overlook. Over the years I’ve dreaded opening my Gmail In-box due to all the clutter. Now look how clean and organized it appears.
